We have a neat and traditional stable yard of 8 loose boxes which are constructed in either brick and flint with traditional timber beams, or timber stables.
Attached to the yard is the 16th century tack room, where each livery has their own designated space consisting of: Large lockable storage chest; saddle rack; rug rack; bridle hook; general purpose hooks.
The tack room also has permanent hot and cold water, tea and coffee making facilities, shared dry storage for owners food items, refrigerator for food storage or perishable medication, a toaster and a microwave.
There is also a first aid kit for the liveries, and a fully stocked medicine cabinet for horses, should there be a need in an emergency.
Directly behind the yard is the walled garden. This is where we hold the annual BBQ and the garden is also available for our liveries to use to at any time.
Also directly accessible from the yard is the Hay Barn. This is separated into two areas, one for storage of the haylage & bedding and the other for dry feed. The dry feed area has a large steel feed chest for shared use.
The muck heap is situated just away from the main yard along a prepared path.
There are also two external cold water points available for use.
The whole Stable Yard & Tack Room and paddocks were refurbished during the early months of 2009.
We want our liveries to feel at home around the yard and make all the facilities available to them.
HAYLAGE & BEDDING:
Bedding - We use Sundown Yellow bedding at Hall Acres, an excellent bedding which is a chopped rape-seed straw product, similar to the likes of bliss or hemcore but far superior, it's double dust extracted and herbal treated.
This is delivered in dense 20kg bags and there is a constant supply available to our liveries.
The cost of bedding is included for full liveries. 5 day part liveries are entitled to 2 bales per week and 7 day part 3 bales included in the package.
Those owners on DIY livery or Assisted livery will simply make a mark against their name on the white board in the barn each time they use a new bale, and the cost will be added to their monthly invoice.
Hay and Haylage – Our supplier grows all the hay & haylage we use in the local countryside and provides us with a constant supply of high quality forage. The haylage has a reliable 7-9% protein content.
All haylage & hay is included in the cost of livery.
Alternative bedding and haylage products can be provided by Hall Acres or brought in by liveries.
The stable yard at The Old Rectory enjoys nearly 30 acres of paddocks in which we aim to offer year round turn out.
The grazing was significantly improved during the spring of 2009 and, following the awful winter conditions, maintenance has already started in 2010 to ensure that quality turn out will be available throughout the year once again.
All paddock maintenance will be carried out by Hall Acres directly. At no extra cost. De-dropping the paddocks is also carried out by Hall Acres for Assisted, Part & Full livery packages. If at any time we need to have access to your paddocks for maintenance, alternative grazing will be made available.
Horses to be turned out in company or in individual paddocks; the choice is with the owner.
Horses turned out during the day will be regularly checked by Hall Acres staff.
There will never be slipped rugs, frozen water troughs, broken fences that are not attended to without delay.
During the summer months, horses may be turned out 24hours a day if the owner requires.
